March 29, Alpental Randonee Race

Not sure what motivates me to suffer through this race. Congrats to Seth for his 3rd place finish at Alpental, and overall first place finish in the two race series.

March 25, North Slope - Chair Peak

Did a quick loop, with Don, on the N. slope down to Snow lake. Snow was excellent, but surprisingly large amount of tracks down the gut. This sport must be getting more popular!

March 21, Little Cottonwood, Alta, Ut.

Final day of touring. It's been a great trip. Started the morning with Mt. Davenport and views down into the Brighton ski area. The slope was a little wind scoured, so we headed down the ridge to the East looking for pockets of powder. Ended up back in the same valley as the first day, and found some excellent turns. Managed to hit the 6,000 foot vertical mark for our last day. Legs were burning, but couldn't stop spinning laps in the powder.

March 12, Crooked Again

Snoqualmie Mt., three times in the last week. I think my legs are getting in shape. Met Greg, and Mike at Frank's condo. Put the hammer down and, the four of us, made it to the top in 2 1/2 hours. Like the last trip we decided to split and go two directions. In the picture, the left slot is the crooked and the right chute is the slot. Definitely was an ice layer due to recent rain, but just enough fresh on top, to make the skiing good.

March 9, Crooked Couloir

The slot was good enough for a repeat, so hooked up with Seth, Holly, and Eric. Seth asked where should we meet? I said, "how about your condo?" I showed up at the Walker condo, and the gang was busy putting on their gear. To start the tour, we walked down one story to the main floor, and headed out the back door. Doesn't get any more convenient then that. Touring was better than the last trip, and we made quick time, as we zig zagged up the phantom slide. Reached the Slot, and Eric and Seth were excited to go the next fifty feet to the summit and look at the start of the crooked couloir. Eric had not skied the Crooked, so Eric and I decided to drop the Crooked, while Seth and Holly dropped the Slot. We met up at the bottom, and decided the skiing was good enough to warrant another lap. Seth and Eric cruised up for another run, while Holly and I headed for the phantom. The corn was excellent and we even skied the notorious waterfall finish.

March 8, Slot Couloir

Rallied Don and Collin for the Slot Couloir. After skiing Chair with Greg, I knew the North side of Snoqualmie should be sweet. We slipped and scraped our way up the Alpental side of Snoq. Collin put on his crampons, Don tried booting, finally we made it to the Slot entrance. My original plan was to ski the Crooked, but the Slot looked way too inviting! Collin dropped in and hit sweet soft snow. Yes, the protected North side was the way to go.

March 2, Kendall

Met up with Greg, Fabien, and Daniel. Greg's original plan was Mt. Roosevelt, but we quickly detoured to Kendall, when we were turned back at the start of the Alpental road, by the parking attendant. All lots full at Alpy! As usual Kendall did not disappoint and served up some tasty tracks.
