June 13 - Moto in Cle Elum

Trailered the motos to Cle Elum with Scott and met his friend Keith.

June 11, Leavenworth Ski Hill Trails

Temperature were only supposed to reach 70 in Leavenworth, so we made the drive east.

Climbed the new uphill trail, about 3 miles and 1782 feet, to it's intersection with Rosy Boa.

We continued straight over to Fruend, to descend the bottom of the Fruend trail, as were planning on climbing to the top of Fruend/Rosy Boa.  Climbed the Freund climb, which is road for about 1-2 miles before it turns to single track trail.  At about 9 miles, the trail leveled out, and were on the final left portion that traverses to the top of Fruend/Rosy Boa.

At 10 miles, we started our descent on Rosy Boa.  Trail was in sweet condition.

This section has seen some treadwork making it much smoother

We ended up at the same intersection as the morning.

We finished the day with the Lower Rosy Boa flow trail.  We've watched them build it over the last couple of years, and this year it finally looked solid to ride on.  14-15 miles.

Hood River bike and sail

Ok - we had to make a tiny trip to Hood River before the big trip to Italy in July.

We rented a tiny studio on top of a house for 3 nights, which ended up being right in town, on 6th and Cascade.  We were one block from our massage place, Holistic Massage, and just a few blocks from yoga.

On Tuesday, we arrived in town, and checked out the town and water, as the owners were painting the downstairs unit, trying to sell the house.  So, we were unable to get in until around 3pm.

Wednesday was supposed to be a windy day, so Kevin rented windsurfing gear and dropped Francine off at Post Canyon so she could ride those trails and ride back to the place.  Luckily, town is downhill from Post Canyon trails.

Thursday had no wind, and we rode at up on the 44 Road and rode both 8mile and Knebal Springs loops, for about 15 mile day.  Trails were in sweet condition.  Scott showed up in the afternoon, and had dinner with us.  He was testing out his new setup in the pickup bed for sleeping in the back.  After dinner, he went to his friend's place in Mosier, but had to deal with trains going by almost every hour.

Friday was checkout day.  We rode up Seven Streams to 8Track to the new Eldorado trail (which cuts off the top part of 8Track) to Lower GP to Spaghetti Factory to Mitchell Ridge.  Climbed up past the power lines to the closed Mitchell Ridge, (original route we used to do) and finished with a ripping descent that puts us at the car.

June 2, Raging Again

On the log, Scott, Mike, Holly, Ken.
Lot's of bikers out enjoying the new trail system

Heather Manion had been excited to escape the city.  With limited time, 3 kids under 5, it wasn't that easy to get out for a ride.   After riding Raging River last week, we knew we had to go back.  The smooth freshly built trails will not be smooth for long with the high traffic from the still booming popularity of mountain biking.   We got together a fun group, Heather and Mike, Holly D, Scott, Ken, Francine, and I.   Trails were still in great shape.  We decided to skip the full loop and stopped 7 miles out at the clearcut.   It's a good turn around point with a sunny spot to view Mt. Rainier.   In retrospect we probably could have done the full loop to get the full burn, but personally I was happy to enjoy the downhill with some energy in my legs.   Really nice to get out with a good group of friends.
