June 27 - 30, One Hundred Miles in Bend
Val leads the way on the Mckenzie River trail
Don - McKenzie River
Francine heads up the North Fork trail
Heading down the Deschutes River trail
The Heckers were childless for the week and wanted to play. We decided on a quick trip to Bend, where the trails are long and smooth. picked up a condo for cheap in the Old Mill district. First day car shuttled up to Swampy Lakes trailhead, rode up Swede, down South Fork, out Tumalo Creek trail, up Skyliner, then down Phil's and rode back to our condo in town. 27 sweet miles. Day 2 we rode from the condo to COD, left on Storm King and down the Deschutes river trail for a 30 mile day. Day 3 we headed out of town, driving through Sisters and over Santiam Pass to set up a 22 mile shuttle of the Mckenzie River trail. Day 4 we finished with a gorgeous loop up the North Fork trail, out of Tumalo Falls, to Metolius-Wendigo, and down Mrazek for 22 miles of riding. Excellent trail conditions throughout, thanks to our rainy spring weather.
