Last training mission for Eric and Kelly before they head to Europe and the Haute Route. With low expectations we headed up the Commonwealth valley with no particular destination in mind. With tricky river crossings, thanks to lots of rain lately, we ended off track of the normal up valley trek. We finally popped out of the trees on the lower slopes of Red Mt. With lots of sunshine we decided to head for the shoulder of Red. Light clouds and a little breeze kept the slopes firm with a just enough give for fun skiing. It would have been an excellent day for Red if we had been more motivated. Great turns off the shoulder. Beautiful day in the mountains. 5 hour tour with 5 minutes of good skiing.
