July 7 - to Villa La Cascine in Montaione, Tuscany region of Italy
Today we hop the train to Florence, Italy, where we will pick up a rental car and drive to the Villa Sally rented in Montaione.
Train ride was super nice, as we had a 4 seater section for the 3 of us. Picking up the rental car in Florence took over an hour. After confirming that no, we cannot drive our rental car into the ZTL Zone in central Florence, we made Jessica & Casey taxi from the center of Florence, to us. It is very common in Italy cities to have a "ZTL" No Drive Zone. we were finally on our way. With no lunch, we were finally on our way. Luckily, we had no traffic issues, and after a short stop at the store, we made it to the house around 4pm.
The cleaners had just arrived, and it seems like the previous guests had left the place quite dirty, thus the cleaners had a lot to do, especially since they had to turn 17 bedrooms and 15 bathrooms.
We had some rain storms while we waited for the house to be ready, and we think a bunch of mosquitos hatched. We had a nice welcome dinner, except that the Italians eat super late, and I think we didn't start dinner until around 9 or 10pm. Those of us that didn't wear Sally's mosquito bracelets/anklets got bitten, including Kevin.
We didn't know that the mosquitos were also in our room. We got buzzed tons during the night, and Kevin got more bites. We found out that Italy has some African, Tiger Mosquitos, that can bite you multiple times, marching up your leg, arm, etc.
Sunday, was a shopping day and hang out at the pool day. The pool is super nice, waveless, where all the edges soak up the waves.
Jessica loves to cook, so she prepared dinner.
