April 15, Sedona Day 1

Francine on Last Frontier

Dropped off into the drainage below our condo complex.  Promptly got lost in a braid of small trails.  Had Scott, Tom, Francine, and I out for a warm up ride.  Scott and Tom said don't kill us on the first ride.  Well, we certainly tried by starting on super narrow non-network trails that had cactus leaning into the trail.   Definitely a sporty start that didn't get much easier when we reached the black diamond trails.  We finally ran into Girdner trail then Last Frontier.  We were right in the middle of the black diamond trails and at 5 miles out, already losing steam.  We opted out of Francine's planned 20 mile loop and headed out Last Frontier which after much up and down, finished with a nice elevation loss out to the highway.   Good thing about today is that all the other trails will seem easy now.

Lori and Diane opted for a hike.  Since it was the weekend, they were trying to avoid the super busy hikes.  They headed straight across the street from Sedona Summit, to the High School, to start the Schurmann Mountain hike.
