July 23 - 24, Monday & Tuesday - On to Innsbruck, Austria

Had a nice breakfast at Hotel Linder and caught the local 350 bus to Waidbruck for the train to Innsbruck.  They were working on the train tracks right before Innsbruck, so they put us on a bus for the last few miles into Innsbruck.

Again, we were able to check into our hotel, The Grand Europa, early, when we arrived in Innsbruck.  We walked to the Old Town, saw The Golden Roof, Marketplace, river, and made our way back.  Stopped and talked to a couple outside a vietnamese restaurant.  Had dinner at the supermarket in the train station across the street, as our other option had closed.

We were finally near a laundromat, so did a load during breakfast.  We wanted to get out of the city as we have realized that Kevin does not like these big cities, so we rode the STD tram/train up to Mutters and on to Fulpmes.  Had weiners at the Putt-Putt-Golf cafe, and came back home.  On the way up, we stopped at the Innsbruck Bike park, which included a steep walk up to the base of the Gondola.  It was quite busy, as Tuesday is $22 day (instead of $36).

Came back and Kevin took a nap.  Silas gave us the name of his friend's brother's restaurant, Gasthof Schupfen, so we will head back up towards Mutters, this time on the bus for dinner.

Tomorrow, we head to Davos, Switzerland, where we will be for 6 nights, with 5 days of biking.  Come home on the 31st.

Innsbruck.  Old town - lot's of tourists and knick knack shops

Most interesting thing in Innsbruck were the climbing and hiking shops.
Not in picture.  This is just some old building.

The golden roof.   Not very exciting.  Well must be exciting because everyone was taking pictures.

Grand Europa Hotel.  Our room was right on the corner, fourth floor.
It was conveniently located across from the train station.
View from the room.  Not quite as nice as the Dolomites

Silas recommended this place for dinner.  It was about 15 minutes
from the hotel on the bus.  The hills above Innsbruck were beautiful.

German Food.   Yep, not in Italy anymore.

Francine is allergica to lactate and gluten.   Waitress laughed when told and said stick with salad.  For some reason pork was only available if you pounded it flat, breaded it, and fried it.  At least the salad was good.

We escaped the big city by riding the light rail to the end of the line.  Here we just finished eating our frankfurters at the put-put mini golf cafe shack.

One of the cute stops on the light rail (tram)

Walked up from tram station to check out one of the mountain bike parks

Pretty good crowd.  It was $22 Tuesday.   Looks like a fun place to ride downhill
