July 3 - 5, Rome - Speed tour

We headed to Rome Italy for 3 days, and then will head on to Monatione Italy for 10 more days to celebrate Sally's 50th birthday.   Thanks to Sally, we were able to upgrade our flight to First Class from Las Vegas to London.  It is going to be hard to fly coach after experiencing first class.  It made the ten hour flight from Vegas to London a pleasant experience instead of a grind.   The ability to fully recline the seat made a huge sleeping difference.

First Class fromVegas to London

We didn't plan anything our first day as we didn't know how we would feel after our long plane rides. After breakfast in the hotel, we headed out for a walking tour. We made it to the Spanish Steps, making only a couple of wrong turns. We had grand plans to walk to three or four other tour spots.. As we headed towards our next walking point, we ran into a horse and buggy option. Slightly hot and already frustrated with navigating a new city we happily climbed into the buggy Our driver steered the horse to the Plaza Navona, some beautiful church, and The Pantheon. Next we headed to the Trevi Fountain. We were so happy to be in the buggy, as even walking speed of the horse gave us a breeze. The little side streets were also a nice way to make our way to the sights. After an hour, we saw all the sights we were planning on walking to, and were dropped off at the bottom of Veneto street, for a 10 minute walk back to the hotel. We thought that was the perfect way to complete our "walking" tour. We all said it was worth every dollar.
